About Me

Hi, I’m Pedro—thanks for stopping by.

I’ve been drawn to art and photography for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I wasn’t exactly a sports kid, and as the eldest of seven, I often preferred the quiet corners over the spotlight. The camera quickly became my comfort zone—a way to observe the world without having to be at the center of it. As an art student, that perspective grew into a real strength. I learned to see light, detail, and moments that others might miss, and photography became as much about appreciating life as capturing it.

Over the years, my gear evolved right along with me—from disposable film cameras and darkrooms to a couple of trusty DSLRs and a bag full of lenses. My wife and I raised two boys (now in their twenties), and they still tease me about dragging that overstuffed camera bag to every vacation. If you ask them, they can probably recite my old script from memory: “Stand here. Smile. Look at me. Pretend you’re surprised. Okay, just one more…” Those photos are now part of our family’s history, eye rolls and all.

At some point, though, I became so focused on documenting everything that I realized I was missing the actual moments themselves. And as my photos started getting more attention, the social invites started coming too—often with a friendly, “You’re bringing your camera, right?” Eventually, I took a step back, realized that the increase in "invitations" was primarily driven by the bonus of getting a free event photograher rather than genuine company...and put the camera away for a while.

Then smartphones came along and changed the game. I found myself taking pictures again, but this time with a new mindset. I eventually dusted off and traded in my heavy gear for lighter Micro 4/3 equipment—something I could carry without feeling like I had a backpack full of bricks. More importantly, I learned to be intentional. To shoot less. To be present more. To enjoy the moment while still capturing the parts of it that matter.

Today, photography is a balance for me. It’s still my creative outlet and my way of noticing the world—but it no longer pulls me away from it. I’m here to create images that feel honest, thoughtful, and grounded in real moments.
